    The Needle Galaxy (evening)

The Needle Galaxy, aka NGC 4565 and Caldwell 38, is superb, edge-on spiral
with a dark dust lane. It is visible in almost any size of quality telescope under dark skies. The Needle is located 3 southeast of Al Dafirah (Gamma
Com), and just on the eastern edge of the Coma Star Cluster Melotte 111. This galaxy elongates under various magnifications, apertures, and sky conditions. It is located about 55 million light-years away from our solar system.
