I cant poll my fidonet hub without turning off Malwarebytes.
    Any ideas for Windows 10/11?

    Don't use Malwarebytes, I guess.

Defender AV and firewall in Windows 10/11 is perfectly cromulent to guard your system against all but the sketchiest of sketchy Limewire downloads and sophisticated skript kiddies!

I don't know of any alternatives but can confirm that Malwarebytes causes issues. I had a couple of downlinks get temporarily cut off because they
were using it on their ends. Malwarebytes uses data picked up from
crawlers that flag systems that carry older DOS programs whose EXE files
are compressed with PKLITE and other EXE compressors... which means they
could potentially flag a lot of BBSes and other websites that have older shareware available for download.

I used to allow people to download without having a user account but cannot
do that any more because of scanners like Malwarebytes.
