I will mention that they overnighted my replacement b/c they knew of my prior YT videos - could that have any bearing, too? I don't think so - but I guess its worth mentioning.

I think that they just deal with thousands of HDDs and warranty within the 2yr boundaries. For me, so far, its the best place to get HDDs for server needs.

I want to thank you, I finally pulled the trigger on changing over to NixOS. I have been thinking about it for quite sometime, and you video made me pull the trigger.
I really want to get to know it more as I am thinking of converting my "Vintage Pi" project over to Nix, as it requires multiple users for each emulated system. Hopefully I can figure out "Home Manager" well enough to make it work.

Oh, cool dude!! I was once 'heavy' into Nix and would use it intensely for spinning up new hardware quickly - the video I did didn't touch on ALL the things it can do (like supporting DIFFERENT hardware; GPUs, etc) but did cover the basics...

If you want to get serious with NixOS I suggest learning about flakes and seeing if they're for you or not.

I will mention that over the past year I've moved away from the project. Don't want to get political here, but the original dev was pushed out by woke BS and... yea, I just don't use it anymore.

That being said, it is solid technology and was a really cool approach; that being said, I'm not supporting any FOSS that puts politics above the software. We can ALL be a part of it, or I'm not interested. :P

Yah, I hear you. In in fact it was one of the reasons I did not jump into it earlier. (after watching a lunduke video of the matter). However it seems to get harder to avoid great FOSS projects that don't have some sort of internal conflict lately. This year I tried to move away from using projects that were starting to have issues, but then it started to look like all of me favorite projects were having issues, so I said f**k it, I'll just use what works best for me. At this rate it looks like BSD and some very basic programs might be in my near future LOL!

Don't get me started with the Theo De Raadt NetBSD drama! :)

More and more reasons why Arch, Mint, Debian and other projects have my blessing. I want FOSS that actually supports EVERYONE - it isn't about the politics, its about the software.

Red Hat, NixOS, Elementary and others are just dead to me. Inclusion has become the opposite IMO... I think we're on the up-turn where a LOT of people are figuring out that middle of the road is where to be.

I hope FOSS follows suit - and I think it will...
