This is common. People like to conflate marijuana and alcohol and therefore ask
questions that they think pertain to both. Alcohol is a mild poison. The byproducts
produced by your body when breaking down alcohol produce toxic by-products that both
a: give you a hangover and b: produce cycles of inflammation throughout your body,
damaging DNA. Of course, the main victim here is the liver that has to synthesize
alcohol and ends up being damaged in the process.
Marijuana, although processed by the liver, doesn˙t result in any toxic by-products and
is, in fact, regulated by the endocannabinoid system, so outside of a possible temporary
increase in liver enzymes (not common), cannabis doesn˙t damage the liver. The only
problem that remains with marijuana is how it˙s delivered. Smoking anything can cause
harm to your lungs, so it˙s best ingested in a way that˙s not damaging. Otherwise, the
final anecdote is Willie Nelson.
