Walking is easier, but just like buying a pre-made meal at the grocery stores, it comes
with a price.
Walking is an easy way to get steps in and burn calories. An hour of walking burns
anywhere from 250˙350 calories, but to say this is more effective than running would be
a lie. Running at a moderate pace for an hour burns about 900˙1,100 calories. Isn˙t
really a comparison, right?
Walking will not burn the same calories, get you in shape as fast, or grow your mental
strength as effective as running.
Instead, walking is an effective starter exercise and won˙t seem as daunting, but that˙s
about it.
If your goal is weight loss or getting shape, then only walking will waste your time.
While I˙m a big advocate for walking, I usually walk 10K steps a day, but it has nothing
on running. What you achieve in hours of walking you gain in a fraction of the time while
running. The only good thing walking has over running is that it doesn˙t hurt the same
way.
You can walk for two hours every day without any issues, but run for an hour and you
probably have to wait 1˙2 days before you do it again.
Running is more effective than walking, but walking can be done every day and rewards
you with something more than improved health.
