  • Telnetd.device Connection message

    Does anyone know if there is a way to change the Telnetd connection message?

    I would like to add a comment to please be patient. I am seeing some connect messages, but users never log in (Could be a bot), or it could be people thinking the login process has locked up because take C-Net takes longer to connect than other systems.

    When I asked this question a few years ago, I was told get a sector editor. I don't know if that is the answer, but just relaying what I was told..

    Sounds about right.

    It is also par for the course that the author of telnetd.device did not follow the TELNET specs and add a banner command.

    The other thing that is SORELY needed is some kind of logging.

    It would really help to be able to see what the incomming IP address is (TCPser records incomming addresses.).

    I will have to see if I can get my firewall to create a seperate log for any connection coming in on the BBS port.).

    I really want to know if these are just bots, or if peple really are having an issue connecting!

    Thanks to CrackerJak, I use a program called TCPView. It doesn't keep a log, but it shows you what is connected to each port on your computer. I have been getting slammed by bots on my Amiga board, I found last night 4 lines of port 9600 which is the joinlink port had a Censys bot attached to it. I blocked that domain and today I had 6 bot calls get through. No record of them like you said but at least I am no longer looking at the calls per day and seeing 25+ calls in one day and there is only 2 live people calling. You and me!
