We had a hiccup with the MRC #MeatUp this weekend... there was some flub with the MRC server and users could enter MRC commands, but chats weren't working... so our fearless #MeatUp leader MeaTLoTioN floated some ideas around - maybe we can chat on the #TQW Matrix server... would we go vintage and use KDX??? Or... should we all jump on magviz.ca and use #ddial??? Well - we settled on ddial and had a good time.

All this to say - I really look forward to my #MeatUps. Its been something like... 5?? 6 years??? And I enjoy them. I used to skip work on Fridays when that was the day - and now its super easy because #MeatUps are Saturdays at 1pm for me; best ever.

Thanks to MeaTLoTioN, thanks to the dozens of other #MeatUp regulars and these stupid text chat things are something I enjoy. :P

Maybe it'll be another decade and I'll still know some of you. Until then, #MeatUps FTW!!!

Well said. Couldn't agree more.

Nice to have ddial as a backup option in case MRC has issues in the future. I think most of us can connect to IRC from our boards as well; just need to know the server and channel info!

I used to have the KDX client installed on my Laptop and I used to visit Meatlotions KDX server every so often. Had to reinstall Windows and haven't installed KDX yet. I'll have to dig it up.

Yep. I think Winter created her and a few other ops on magviz.ca can manage her.
He has done some cool stuff. I think if you start cussing she will give you a few warnings and drop you LOL. I think this can be turned on and off; so it may not be on all the time.

Sorry I missed the meatup in ddial. ddial has a monthly meetup I think on Friday;
cannot recall which one in each month.

Yeah it was a little inconvenient, and I don't think it'll happen often at all, I think that's the 2nd time MRC was actually not working during a #Meatup ever. DDIAL surely was a great bit of alternative fun.

I will try and make a streaming set up that will work with that too, just in case.

Yeah there are a few KDX servers still in existence, and some users that use them, but I think they're even fewer than BBSes and their users.

Gotta keep it all going somehow. Maybe we can try and organise meatups using different techs on some kind of rotation, like MRC every week but every say 4th or the first #meatup in the month will be using either DDIAL or KDX or IRC or something... Just gotta find a way to make each of those look good on the stream, DDIAL and KDX probably be ok.

I forget if they have a MacOS version (Especially a current on as they are vintagey binaries..) but theres Windows and Linux for sure; theres a KDX File Area @ 2oFB LocalZzZ with all the files.

Server and Client... and add-ons (sound and otherwise) that aren't needed.

IIRC, 2oFB KDX is @ 20ForBeers.com:10700
