OnePlus 15R confirmed to get Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, 165Hz display, and more

OnePlus isnt fully unveiling the OnePlus 15R until December 17 , but ahead of that launch, the company has revealed many of the phone's most significant specs including its chipset, display, and camera engine.

First up, we now know that the OnePlus 15R has a 165Hz screen thats in line with the OnePlus 15 , but its a higher refresh rate than the 120Hz youll get on most high-end phones, including the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro Max . That said, this difference will only come into play during certain games.

We also now know that the OnePlus 15R has a 1.5K AMOLED display with 450 pixels per inch, and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits. Thats the same pixel density and brightness as youll find on the OnePlus 15, so while the size of the screen hasnt been confirmed, it may well match the OnePlus 15 at 6.78 inches. Other newly announced details include the OnePlus 15R's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, which is slightly lower-end than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used
by the OnePlus 15, but should still deliver plenty of power.

Thats paired with a G2 Wi-Fi chip, which OnePlus claims will allow for strong Wi-Fi connectivity wherever you are, and a Touch Response Chip, which helps the OnePlus 15R sense touch inputs faster than rival devices.

Finally, there are the cameras, and not as much has been revealed about
these, but OnePlus has said that the OnePlus 15R uses the Detailmax Engine to deliver the same advanced computational photography and algorithms as youll get with the OnePlus 15. Like that phone, the OnePlus 15R also has Ultra
Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and the Clear Night Engine.

So, it sounds like, on the software front, its cameras might be similar, but it remains to be seen how the camera hardware will compare.

Well find out on December 17, when the OnePlus 15R will be unveiled alongside the OnePlus Watch Lite and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 the latter of which we also now know has a 12.1-inch 8K screen with 284 pixels per inch and a peak brightness of 900 nits.
