ExpressVPN has just rolled out two major updates aimed at making its service faster and more intuitive for users on the go and at their desks.
The provider has introduced a 'Fastest Location' feature for instant, optimized connections and launched its first native Mac VPN app, promising a true desktop experience.
Both updates are designed to streamline the user experience, ensuring that customers can connect securely with a single click while enjoying the best possible performance.
In an increasingly crowded field, these quality-of-life improvements are key for any service wanting to be considered the best VPN on the market, helping to remove friction and make digital privacy more accessible.

Android, and macOS applications. The new native Mac app is also available for all users to download today. A need for speed with 'Fastest Location' (Image credit: ExpressVPN)
As ExpressVPN explains in the announcement , the new 'Fastest Location' feature is a significant enhancement for users who prioritize speed and simplicity.
It replaces the previous 'Smart Location' and 'Recent' sections on the app's home screen, instead offering a single button to connect to the optimal VPN server based on real-time network conditions. This automated process is designed to deliver quicker connection times and lower latency.
The update also brings more transparency to the server selection process. The app will now display the connection strength of the top three or five fastest servers, which automatically refreshes whenever a new, more optimal location is detected. This allows users who still want to choose their server manually to make a more informed decision.
"We built Fastest Location to make secure connections completely effortless," said Shay Peretz, Chief Operating Officer at ExpressVPN, in a statement. "It takes care of performance behind the scenes so users can focus on browsing safely, streaming smoothly, and staying protected without missing a beat." Alongside the new connection feature, ExpressVPN has launched a brand-new native app for macOS.
While the provider has long supported Apple's desktops, the previous app was based on the iPad VPN version, brought to the Mac using Apple's cross-compatibility features. The new app is built from the ground up using Apple's Mac Catalyst framework.
This move to a native application means users can expect a smoother and more responsive experience that feels fully integrated with the macOS environment. The company promises faster startup times, slicker visuals, and improved multitasking performance. This brings the Mac client in line with the provider's other "first-class" applications.
"We wanted the Mac version to feel just as refined as our other platforms," said Peretz. "With this new native app, everything from startup to window resizing feels smoother, faster, and more in tune with macOS." This
investment in a platform-specific experience demonstrates a commitment to its Apple user base, refining the desktop experience to be more powerful and intuitive.
