Subscribe to our newsletter The latest Apple MacBook Air M5 is barely a month old, but we're already starting to see promising deals on this outstanding notebook. Right now, the best overall option has to be Best Buy's current promotion.
The retailer is currently listing the entry-level 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD configuration for a record-low price of $949 (was $1,099) . That alone is a pretty damn good deal, but the real selling point here is that you can
further supplement your savings by trading in an old machine. I've been testing the retailer's trade-in calculator, and I've managed to hit a rebate value of $600 for a trade on a MacBook Air M3 in good condition. Combined
with the current upfront discount, that's a total cost of $349 for a newly released MacBook Air. Of course, hitting that maximum rebate is solely dependent on how good your old machine is. But even still, getting a few hundred dollars off the current listing price is absolutely nothing to be sniffed at here. It's entirely possible you could pick up a MacBook Air for the same price as the $599 entry-level MacBook Neo, for example. Today's
Apple MacBook Air deal at Best Buy Apple MacBook Air 13 (M5): was $1,099 now $949, plus up to $600 off with a trade-in at Best Buy Best Buy's new deal on the latest MacBook Air lets you bundle together a record-low upfront price with one of the best trade-in rebates on the market right now. The result? A brand new MacBook for $349, potentially. While you have to hand over a pretty good machine to hit that high trade-in threshold, this is definitely the best overall deal on this model yet. (Image credit: Lance Ulanoff / Future) Our Apple MacBook Air 13 (M5) review stated that this machine was 'one of the best' ultra-portable laptops we'd ever
used. That was to be expected, however, as we've always found the MacBook Air to be a real winner when it comes to design, portability, and value.
This particular model is a relatively modest upgrade over the previous iteration, but it does come with double the starting storage and a more efficient chipset. In short, the traditional MacBook Air selling points of portability and battery life have been further boosted, even though this one looks the same as last year's model.
Our only complaint? We weren't fans of the higher starting price, but today's price cut renders that criticism null and void.
